Originally meant as a studio for the artist, Júlio Pomar, this space is now a museum promoting the painter’s work in its consistent and regular programmes. It is now part of Lisbon’s public-owned cultural spaces managed by the municipal company EGEAC. What was once a warehouse was renovated with great simplicity and mastery to conserve the essence of the original building – the structural walls and the roof. Highlights of the intervention are the new access patio with a ramp, a mezzanine floor (in the central void) that links the two floors, and the restoration of the roof and wooden rafter structure.
