On its site between Avenida Infante Dom Henrique and the Tagus, and between Praça do Comércio Santa Apolónia station, the new terminal is framed by the walls of the old docks which still remain there today. It will also serve as a kind of viewing point below the slopes of the Alfama neighbourhood and over the river, providing views of the city upwards – similar to that the perspective from large cruise ships – and taking in the impressive aspect of the huddled housing above which the silhouettes of the churches of São Vicente da Fora and Santa Engrácia and the castle stand out.
